These photos are from Thursday's hike up the Helderberg Dome. Tim asked me to co-lead a Mountain Club meet. The thumb of rock poking up in the foreground of the first photo is where we had tea, sheltering behind the thumb. A blast of freezing wind was funneling through the saddle behind me, and the thumb provided enough shelter to enjoy the view and rest. The second photo is from the peak looking east. Found the experience reminded me again how much I enjoy being on the mountain.
On the peak Tim spoke of a Catholic colleague who had recently done the same route with him and some other clergy. He was asked to provide something to meditate on:
"We are ultimately saved by that which ignore us."
